A photograph is a treasure for years.

I Can't Find Any Photos of My Dog

When I attend an event I really try hard to ensure that I get a picture of each and every dog . . . I even try to make sure they are good pictures. Sometimes it just doesn't work out.

If you are wondering why you can't find a picture of your dog, let's start with the basics.

  • I didn't get a picture of your dog. This doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
  • The photos I did get were not usable. Possibly they were out of focus, perhaps it was something else. For whatever reason, I decided the photos I have are not high enough quality to offer.
  • I lost your pictures (gasp!). Before I go to work I make at least three copies of the pictures, one working copy and two backups. Nevertheless, I still manage to lose an occasional group of photos.

(NB a typical Regionals photo shoot involves 12,000 to 18,000 photos and occupies more than 100GB. Three copies of these files fill more than a typical home computer hard disk)

I have standards and I don't want you to buy a photo expecting it to look amazing on a print the size of your living room wall, only to find out it is little more than fuzzy picture.

DON'T GIVE UP...

I keep every photo I've ever taken. I can probably dig up a picture of you and your dogs somewhere. If you would like me to look through the archived photos for a particular picture contact me and we can work something out.

I have one of the best camera/lens combination for taking action pictures built by some of the most talented engineers in Japan, but it still needs to be able to find something distinct to focus on the subject.

There is one more final reason for your photo not being online. I just haven't completed the preparation. Did I mention some 12,000 to 18,000 photos? I look at every photo, I copy them, I sort them, and I arrange them online so you don't have to search through thousands and thousands of photos to find the one of your dog. Rest assured I'm working hard to get everything online in a reasonable time.

When will the photos be posted on your website?

If we are talking about an event like the Regionals expect this to take one to two weeks.
I typically have more than 10,000 photos from the Regionals weekend. It takes time to go through the pictures and select the best. It takes even more time to sort the photos by dog.

What comes on a CD?

The CD includes ALL the images of your dog that I took at the event. The images are full size images from the camera in JPG format with very low compression.

You will receive every image, including the blurry and incorrectly exposed images. While not very flatting these "off" images may show you things about about how your dog is performing certain obstacles that you were not aware of.

How do I order a collage?

The online selling package I use is great at offering all resolutions and formats except collages. It has no concept of collages. More precisely, it has not mechanism to select four or five images and request they be placed in a collage.

To order a collage, select any photo you want in your collage and place an order for a collage. In the (optional) notes tell me which other photos you would like included in the collage.
For 8"x10" collages choose three images for the side. For 11"x14" choose four additional images.

I can't view/order photos on this website

The package manager I use on this website to display and sell photos is Flash based. For a number of reasons Flash is no longer the darling of the Internet community.

Flash is not installed by default on most new computers and on some devices (eg. iPad), Flash can be downright difficult to install.

I recognize this as an issue and I have searched for an alternative to the gallery package I use on several occasions. So far my search has only turned up one package with the features I need, unfortunately the price is prohibitive.

If you are on a PC or Mac you can visit the Adobe Flash website and try to install the Flash viewer for your web browser. For iPad and Android devices you can search in the App Store or the Play store for FLASH.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you.
